Mission Statement

The mission of the Rogers County Emergency Management Agency is to minimize the effects of attack, technological and natural disasters upon the people of Rogers County by preparing, implementing and exercising preparedness plans and also by assisting local city's within Rogers County with training for and mitigation of disasters, and by coordinating actual disaster response/recovery operations.

In addition to the preparation and implementation of disaster response/recovery plans, this agency is also responsible for county wide storm spotting, tornado alerting, flood watches and road closings. We are also responsible for making sure that any hazardous material spill within Rogers County is properly cleaned up.

The agency has two full time employees working at the Emergency Operations Center located in the basement at the courthouse in room B-113. The rest of our staff is made up of our volunteer's, Firefighters, EMTs, Law enforcement, Amateur Radio operators, etc.

We offer different types of training for our volunteer's and other emergency response agencies located within the county. This training is free and goes towards continuous education for firefighters, EMTS, and law enforcement.

The Oklahoma Department of Civil Emergency Management (ODCEM) was created as the Department of Civil Defense by legislative action in 1951. Soon after its creation, the Civil Defense agency and the Department of Emergency Resources Management were combined into one unified disaster aid organization. Today, ODCEM is the central point of contact for coordination of four closely allied functions: Hazard Mitigation, Community Preparedness, Emergency Response and Disaster Recovery.
