MINUTES OF SPECIAL MEETING OF THE BOARD OF

                  COUNTY COMMISSIONERS, ROGERS COUNTY BUILDING,

                  416 SOUTH BRADY, CLAREMORE, OKLAHOMA,

                  WEDNESDAY, MAY 7, 2008, AT 9:00 O’CLOCK A.M.

Notice of said meeting was filed in the Office of the County Clerk on Friday, May 2, 2008, at

4:16 P.M. and posted on the Courthouse Bulletin Board; Outside the Commissioner’s Meeting Room;

on the Exterior Window at the Southeast Entrance and Front Entrance to the Courthouse; on the

Wheelchair Ramp Door and on the East Side Door of the County Building located at 416 South Brady.

 

ITEM 1:           CALL TO ORDER:                                                                                         

                                    Chairman Dan DeLozier called the meeting to order at 9:18 A.M.

 

                                                                                                                                               

ITEM 2:           ROLL CALL:

                                    Chairman Dan DeLozier, Commissioner Mike Helm and Commissioner Kirt Thacker were all present.

                                    Commissioner Kirt Thacker left the meeting at 10:30 A.M.

 

           

ITEM 3:           DISCUSSION WITH POSSIBLE ACTION ON FOLLOW-UP OF EMERGENCY

                        PLAN IMPLEMENTED DURING DECEMBER 2007 ICE STORM DR1735 -

                                    David Puckett, Fire Chief of Northwest Fire Protection District did a powerpoint presentation. (see following attachment made a matter of public record)

                                      Discussion about the phones being down in Foyil by Randy Atchley, Foyil Fire Department Chief, which did effect 13 emergency agencies.  Emergency lines were transferred to cell phones and A T & T said this would not happen in the future since it was discovered what the problem was.  The Cherokee Nation helped out greatly and they were very much appreciated.

                                    One point made was that if a shelter is not Red Cross approved the state will not release resources to them.  Emergency Management does not do sheltering. That is done through the Red Cross. In the future need to have pre-assigned shelters list.

                                    Froman Oil Company committed fuel for emergency services.

                                    Discussion continued on several items listed in the powerpoint presentation and noted that a future meeting needs to be held to continue discussions.  Discussion only, no action taken.

 

 

ITEM 4:           RECESS OR ADJOURNMENT:

                                    Chairman DeLozier made a motion to adjourn the meeting with Commissioner Helm seconding the motion.  Roll Call:  DeLozier-aye, Helm-aye.  Motion carried. Meeting was adjourned at 11:19 A.M.
